What's happening on St Helen's Island these days?

In 1968, when I was last in Montreal, this place was full of activity as the centre for Man and His World. I heard that the island has now been abandoned and fallen into disrepair. I find this hard to believe. Anyone in Montreal willing to bring me up to date. Thanks
