What's harder dancing or cheerleading?

I have been dancing for 8yrs and i think its way harder than cheer. i dont want to sound like the person who says they just yell and stuff but i understand you have to throw people in the air but the problem is the person is usually tiny and you have like 2or3 other people helping you lift her.and cheer has only 1type of style.yeah there is all star but you still do the same stuff.in dance there r so many styles like jazz ballet pointe ballroom tap lyrical modern contemporary.and to be a dancer you must be flexible and have good control of ur whole body.cheer may do heelstretches but dancers have to do that then let go of their leg and leave it there.cheer may have you do a toetouch but in dance you do that and many other leaps where you may switch your legs in the air or leap backwards or switch from a regular leap in2 a toetouch all in the air.pluswhen you turn you have to have incredible precision and balance i dont see cheerleaders turning but i see dancers turning and tumbling.sry

  1. it depends on what you're better at.

dance is easier for me because i'm very detailed oriented and i am better at feeling the music and responding than doing methodical motions to very set counts. they're similar, but cheerleading requires more energy and stamina. dancing requires more attention to detail and feeling. its much more fluid which not everyone can achieve.

they both require different sets of muscles.

  2. I'm sorry i disagree.  Cheer leading is made up of a lot of elements.  Tumbling, dancing, stunting and reciting cheers.  Also you can use a lot of different dance types in cheer, like a pom line does jazz and lyrical. Cheerleaders also need a ton of balance and control. When flying you must balance on one leg about eight feet in the air. I used to think just like you. I was a dancer for ten years before trying cheer.  Cheer is a lot of work. You need a ton of upper body strength but even more lower.  All I'm saying is don't judge something unless you've tried it.

  3. i've done both cheerleading (6 years) and dance (15 years) and while theyre both difficult, dance was definetly harder.

i agree with you totally about lifting people, because in dance people have to do lifts all by themselves, and not with the help of 3 or 4 other girls.

dancers use more muscle, and you cant just pick it up. usually girls are trained as young children (as young as 2, like myself) to become a great dancer. i've done ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and contemporary. all of them have been hard, but rewarding & lots of fun. dancers usually do more than one style of dance and that makes them a better dancer.

cheerleading wasnt easy either though! i've got to say. but having a dance background made it alot easier. cheerleading takes alot of dedication and time. but you gotta give cheerleaders some credit, what they do also takes alot of hard work.

  4. I've done cheerleading and im a dancer now...dance is definately harder than cheerleading...many cheerleaders don't know the hard work dedication precision and technique that a dancer has to have...take kicks for instance cheerleaders have to do kicks as well as dancers but in cheerleading the kicks are fast but in dance some times you have to kick your leg up and hold it there...plus you also do tumbling in dance and in some cases you also do pikes and hurdlers and other jumps plus pom falls under the category of dance so the only thing cheerleading has over dance is stunts (which any dancer could do believe me i was a flyer for five years) while dance has many things over cheerleading...dancers dance with emotion (like in lyrical) while cheerleading is nothing but faux maniacal enthusiasm with out real emotion...

*At my high school a few cheerleaders decided to prove how 'easy' it was to make my school's dance team and they all didn't make it*

  5. I did both but got bord with cheer cuz in dance I do that and much more. SO I quit cheer and I'm dancing. My team got gold 6 years in a row with cheer, my dance team got High Gold in 5 categories for like 10 years in a row. This year we aren't competing because only three are going to competion this year, so I would say dance is harder. I can't resist a challenge!!!! And I do musical theatre so we have to SING and dance at the same time.

  6. i've never tried cheerleading so i don't really know which is harder but dance is sooo much cooler because, like you said, there are so many different styles!

  7. DANCE!!!!!! My momndid both and says dance is wayyy harder

  8. hahaha well i think you have enuf answers but im gonna say it anyways

dance is waay harder!!!!! ive done cheer and its nothing compared to dance!!!!!! just remember:

    CHEERLEADERS ARE DANCERS GONE RETARDED!!!!!!

  9. I did both.

Dance is harder because that is what you do is dance.

Cheer had many elements, like you said stunting, tumbling, cheers and the occasional cheer dance. Which aren't that hard. You are team.

When dance you are judge as an individual even if you are on a team.

  10. dance. i was in  a performing arts academy..

  11. dance is way harder!

everything i was going to say to back that up was like right there in your description!

    i totally agree with you.

  12. Im a dancer and cheerleader, DANCING IS WAY HARDER!!!

  13. definitally cheerleading! most of the cheers have dancing involved but its much harder cause its takes much more skills to throw people in the air, it doesnt matter if your a flyer a base or a third, they all take a different skill that only they can bring, honeslty rhey are both hard and you need lots of talkent to do them both, in the end cheerleadning is much harder(my opinion)

  14. I have experience in both dancing and cheerleading and i would definitely say that dancing is much harder. You pretty much explained everything. There are many, many different types of dancing styles and moves. Cheerleading is basically the same thing just harder stunts but like you said, you have help in cheerleading. When dancing your pretty much on your own except when with a partner but posture, balance, and many other things that make up a dancer, is all on your own.

  15. DANCE omg by soo much. dance requires so so so much techneique. i mean cheerleading is hard. i used to cheer. but dance is soo much harder.

  16. cheerleading
