What's involved in lowering a truck?

I don't know a whole lot about car customization, I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado and I want to lower it, probably change the rims out too.. can someone point me in the right direction as far as online resources to make this happen? Maybe a DIY solution

if u really wana make it low rida... i would suggest on using pneumatic shocks (air rides) and its adjustable... if u wana install a huge rims (like 20's) i think u need to do some modifications to the wheel fender and mud guards..
