If I have an agreement with a neighbor to sell part of my acreage to him, what has to be done legally to make this happen? Do I have to share the cost of the survey? Do outside authorities need to be involved?

  1. Before you can sell part of your land, you have to legally subdivide it.  You'll need a real estate lawyer to do it.

  2. The owner should have a survey done as there needs to be a complete legal description in order to transfer the property.

  3. you DON'T need a realtor.  What you need is a lawyer that deals with real estate issues.
