What's is Norm?

I need more information on Norms because I'm doing a research project on culture and I've tried looking it up but it doesn't give me much information.....it would be helpful if you guys could give me some sites

  1. I don't know if there are any sites on it.  It is just a name for social values, beliefs, and attitudes that are accepted as commonplace and normal.   Norms can be in line with social beliefs or totally in conflict with them.  For example, the law says speeding is illegal, but it is a normal and commonplace thing for people to speed.  Norms can also vary from place to place.  Styles of dress are a good example.  Where I live in Florida, virtually everything is casual.  Dressing up means wearing khaki pants with your flip-flops.  If you went to a dressy event in New York City, such as a wedding or nice dinner wearing khaki pants, an open-collar short-sleeve shirt, and flops, you'd be seen as a freak.
