  2. i agree with answerer number 1, that cross promotion is the appropriate term for this. it is a cost effectitive way to advertise products that complement each other.

    In the retail environment, these are becoming increasingly popular, and are called multi-vendor displays or multi-vendor endcaps (refers to the position of the actual display at the end of an aisle in the store). These may include things like chips with soda. Especially in conveneience stores, where space is at a premium and highly sought after, these are win/win solutions. manufacturers reduce costs (shared expense) and both they and the retailer capitalize on the complementary products and impulse purchases.
