What's it like being a Lawyer in the USA?

I want to get a Law degree in the USA. I need to know what sort of stuff people do in law schools. What sort of stuff do people study? Is there a lot of memorizing involved (like med students have to memorize the names of drugs and the like)?

If someone who's familiar with Indian law and american law is reading this, then i'd like to ask this as well: what is the difference between the two systems of law? Which allows more creative freedom on the part of the advocate?

At the end of the day, what kind of work does a lawyer do?

  1. Your question is incredibly broad. It's not really answerable. At the end of the day, most lawyers drive home or take the train. Get a job in a law office as ... anything they'll hire you to do, and find out.
