  1. It's NEVER boring, never! However, you need to have thick skin as you will deal with tons of upset, confused and just plain angry people.

If you are an inside adjuster working in the office you get to handle stuff via phone, fax and email, which in my opinion is easier. You will have a regular work week of 35 to 40 hrs with usually normal work hours between 8 and 5pm. However, many adjusters end up working a lot of extra hours because they get so many files. By the way since most adjusters are paid a salary the extra work is done for free. You also need to learn to like working in a cubicle farm.

I'm a field adjuster who get's to handle most stuff face to face. I've been doing it for 20+ years. My hours can be  longer. Monday, my last appointment was at 7:30 pm with an hour driver back home.

It can be a rewarding job when you help a family that just lost their house in a fire. It can also suck because people think they have won the lottery when they have an insurance claim and you get to educate them about why they won't be getting rich.

  2. I'm a health insurance examiner. We have a flexable schedule...meaning I can work my 40 hours any way I want. I can come in as early at 6:45 and as late as 9:30 as long as I get my 8 hours in. If I want to work a four day work week, I can. If I want to work a few hours over to get off early on friday..I can. VERY nice ..but not everyone does this. We also have great health insurance benefits. Also may have the ability to work from home for some companies. We will in probably 2009/2010.

The work is a little repetitive.
