My mom and step dad just got a divorce and now my mom wants me and her to move to london. I'm American and I'm from St.Simon's Island Georgia. I'm 16 and I was wondering what it's like in for a teenage american girl to live in london. Boys, school, food etc.

any info would be great!

  1. oh godi absolutely love london. from the clothes to the hot guys to the people to the schools. everything about it is just wonderful.

there is just so much to do there. you never get bored. its going to be a big change. georgia to london. but youll get used to it all in time. i assume you havent visited before? i was born there, raised an american gal but i visit alot because of family and work. although i find that several english people (depending on where in london of course) are very rude to americans as sort of expected. but it isnt exactly a comforting thing to be welcomed to...

but anyway, youd be suprised at how many american live in london. thoough i dont find to much of a difference between us and them besides the fact that hey are more savvy and very quick paced

which brings us o transportation. everyon pretty much uses the tubes. the stations are crowdded with bussinessmen to students and such. everyone seems to be in a rush because they like to be on time for everythhing there. so get used to the quickpace and try to go with the flow and dontget run over by a swarm of people trying to get to work!the trains arrive at each stop at the exact same time every day its very efficent.

did i metion there is at least 10 breathtakingly gorgeous guys every 2 yards? there is also some amazing food. mmm i wish i was there right now. so many different types of food like indian, itallian, and continental. also the drug stores are great. i refer them to target. o how i wish there was a Boots here. also the chocolates are the BEST. the coffee cake are 128745099326720 times better than starbucks crappy version haha. i wont go into detail on the food because you just cant go wrong on that subject in london.

    hope you enjoy it

  2. There are loads of American girls living in London & we tend to have an awesome time! Transferring to a British school might be a bit challenging at this point because the high schools here are quite different than the ones in the US, but there is an American School here that probably has a similar curriculum to yours in Georgia. If your mom can afford the tuition this might be a good fit for you because nearly everyone who goes there knows what it's like to move abroad & be the new kid at school, and they are a welcoming group. I have friends who went there & loved it and living in London. The guys who go there are hot, and the school is in St Johns Wood, which is a beautiful part of London. Tons of Americans live here. The grocery store here is one of the few in LDN that carries Magic Shell, Oreos, Kraft Mac and Cheese and other American stuff. There is an American Church in Bloomsbury with a really cool youth group; they are lovely, awesome ppl, and they'll show you the ropes.

London has so many cool places to explore from museums to West End plays to indie rock venues, and you can be much more independent here because you just walk everywhere or take the Tube or Bus whereas if you don't have a car in the US if you have to get your parents or a friend to take you everywhere. There are so many great restaurants here, so don't worry about the dreaded "British food." If you get hungry for Tex-Mex, there's a cool restaurant called The Texas Embassy that is popular.

Your situation is sooooooo similar to my own! My mom & step dad moved to London when I was 14, and I decided to stay in LA and live with my Dad because I love my school and friends there, but I really regret not moving to London, mainly because I miss my mom so much, but also because it really is a great city & I love being here. I spend summers and the holidays here, so I do feel like I live here in a way. I've actually debated moving here a lot this summer, but I'm about to start my senior year, so it's a bit too late. I assume you are going into your jr year, though, and so it would be a bit easier for you.

So....... this American girl gives living in London a huge thumbs up.

    : )

  3. There will be some terms and slang you'll probably need to learn.

I will teach you some. The subway will be called the underground

The bathroom is called the loo or water closet.

For more of that go to http://londonslang.com/.

London is a very busy city. For not to busy and not to rural I would say Bristol would be the best place to live in England.

Food in England is fantastic. Try not to eat at Burger Kings and McDonalds. Try eating some traditional foods like fish and chips and steak and kidney pie.
