  1. just learn the basic.

"comment ca va","une bierre s'il vous plait",...

life is pretty much the same as in the USA except it is easier to circulate without car and people stress less and enjoy food/life much more than in the USA.

    have fun there.

Russians gather in London - this is their paradise -

  6. This question is quite hard to answer... I'll try anyway.

    - Marseille is in the south of France so people speak French.

    - People there are very much into their football (I guess you would call it soccer) so say that you hate PSG and OL (the teams in Paris and Lyon) and you'll be everybody's best friends (hint:" jeuh daytayst Pahree ay Lyon").

    - Marseille is over 2000 thousand years old. Even though no building is that old, buildings there can be REALLY old and some areas might look run down to you if you come from LA or San Francisco. There are no skyscrapers as you know them but there are hundreds of high rise buildings in the suburbs, which I would advise you not to visit (there's not much there anyway).

    - People are generally friendly enough and will keep out of your way. When going into a shop just say "bonhjoor - hello" and "mercee - thank you" and people will be happy. If you do not understand something just say " jeuh neuh comhprhanh pah - I don't understand" or "jeuh neuh pahrl pah franhsay- I do not speak French" rather than saying it in English. By the way, these words in French are not spelt properly, rather the way you should pronounce it (kinda), hope it helps :-)

    - Marseille is by the Mediterannean sea so you'll find lots of food from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia... As for French food, you'll be able to get lots a salads, sandwiches... Most restaurants will have a menu available in English.

    - for everything else practical just buy a guide :-)

    - I hope you have a good time there
