  1. Hi

In Moabit you have the tube/ underground U 9 - north to south - which takes you to the Kurfürstendamm within 10 minutes, to the Tiergarten within 5. It takes longer to go to the former east part of the city. It IS very central but it´s also one of the poorest parts of Berlin. It´s quite OK for everyday life shopping like groceries (the freshest ever!). If you look for high(er) standards in living, shopping, schools, education  and so on you should have a look at other parts, maybe Wilmersdorf, Charlottenburg, Steglitz, more expensive parts would be Grunewald, Zehlendorf. Berlin is a huge city but due to the fantastic public transport system you get everywhere within no time!

    Welcome to Berlin!

  3. Well, it is a rather poor area, but some streets are nice looking (especially around waldenser strasse). It is indeed very central to the city west, especially when you're staying near the Metro/U-Bahn station "Turmstrasse". It is a very cheap area with some green areas and a nice market hall. However, the drawback is, that there are living some rahter poor and wasted people, additionally there are many immigrants (especially from Turkey) which is maybe a problem for some people, also the criminal rate is not as low as in most other parts in Berlin - but normally it is really not a problem in everyday life.
