Question:

What's it like living in Brockville, ON?

What's it like to live in Brockville, ON? I'm considering moving there temporarily

- safety

- apartment availability (are they ok to live in)

- grocery stores, shopping stores

- weather (especially winters)

- is it a nice place to live?

- does it have a downtown or nice restaurants? (not diners or fast-food)

- anything else

Is it a place with an older generation? 'm in my mid-20s, I would be moving temporarily for less than a year, and I don't party so not being in a busy and "night-life" town wouldn't be a big deal for me. But I do like clean, comfortable towns that have a lot of green space, are safe, have nice restaurants, a downtown to browse, etc.

  1. I live right outside Brockville. I'm so suprised to see a Bville question lol :D Where are you right now?

Its pretty safe... not like Toronto or Ottawa. But its about 25,000 - 30,000 people so it will be safer. Crime happens everywhere, regardless of anything. I have no problem walking around at anytime in the wee hours of the morning. I would just avoid the bank machines at night, as you would in any city. I girl I used to work with, her boyfriend got robbed one night late at a bank machine. But that was just plain stupidness. I'd say the only spot someone may mess with you late at night would be the little bridge west of Leon's. Its really dark down there and I think people that have nothing better to do bug people that walk through there. Its by the skate park. But theres really not any major crimes or anything. Commerical break-in's happen often. I've only heard of one residential break-in in the past few years.

Apartments are fine. Avoid Perth Street and the Kesington Towers on Laurier Blvd & Kyle Court (or any buildings around it). They're cheaper and decent apartments, but theres a lot of "low lifes" that live in them. So its not the apartment thats the prob, its the neighbours.

Theres plenty of grocery stores. Quite a few. Wal-Mart Superstore, Real Canadian Superstore, Valu Mart, Loeb, Food Basics. Shopping.. meh, the shopping is alright. Its getting better. The northeast end has boomed in the past 3 years. The mall has gotten quite a few new clothing stores. :)

The Winter's are okay. Just avoid the bad days of course. We get worse winters then Toronto but not nearly as bad as Ottawa or London.

There are definitely some nice spots in Brockville. Really pretty places. Along the waterfront theres a few parks and Block House Island. Its nice to grab something to eat sometimes then go sit at some of the places down by the water.

Yes, it has a downtown. Although the shopping down there kinda blows. By nice restaurants do you mean something like East Side Marios or do you mean fine dining high end. I believe theres 2 or 3 high end fine dining restaurants. But Brockville has Kelsey's, Boston Pizza, East Side Mario's, Bud's on the Bay, etc. etc. Here's a business directory, may give you a better idea for restaurants and shopping.

Brockville is a big mix of ages. You definitely have your older people but then there is a college here so of course theres lots of 20sum people around too. Is it NOT party town!! Lol. Theres like one club called O2, and its retarted lol. If you've ever been to a club in a big city, O2 just looks like a joke. :P :) But theres a few bars too if you ever wanted to have a drink.

Brockville really easy to get around and easy to find things. Its pretty clean and simple. If you have anymore questions or want to know anything else by all means e-mail me from my profile page. I'd be happy to help.
