  1. It is a beautiful place to live.

  2. As many others mentioned, it depends on where you live and therefore depends on how much money you make (ItalianDude summed it up quite well). If you're planning to come here PLEASE make sure have a job lined up first. Chicago has the highest unemployment rate in the country right now and the entire country is in a recession.

It's hard to tell you what living in Chicago is like in general. The best I could tell you is how it is for me.  For me, its a very busy fast paced life, I'm always broke, and I can't find a decent paying job, or decent work hours.

Someone else might say, it's great, they love living in their high rise condo in Lincoln Park, they love shopping on Michigan Ave, etc. But they probably make about 10 times more money than me. It's a different experience for each person. I'd have to know a little more about you to tell you what your experience MIGHT be like.... There are people that absolutely love Chicago and act like it's paradise for them and there are people that hate it and wish desperately that they could move.

  3. eh.. the local government is a but messed up with raising taxes on everything..

its alright.. i would try new york or cali

  4. Where you living now? That would help in deciding if you would like Chicago. It also depends on the area, living on the south side is goign to be a totally different experience than living in lincoln park which is goign to be different from living in the loop. It's way overpriced, weather sucks but its pretty clean, lots to do, beaches, etc.

  5. beautifu!!!l lights everywhere cold fresh weather cool air its like the movies pretty buildings nice homes movie like streets fancy stores vintage stores nice litte resturants

  6. Living in Chicago is great, depending on where you live. Some of the better places to live in Chicago are Wicker Park and Bucktown. They're up and coming neighborhoods so you should check those out.

You can find nice people and not-so-nice people anywhere. It's not like everyone in Chicago is mean or nice.

  7. Living in Chicago is great.  You can't really summarize Chicago without more information.  Summers are the best here with the lakefront and all the summer festivals.  People are really nice here.  Chicago is pretty much a collection of neighborhoods (Pilsen, Lincoln Park, Gold Coast, St. Bens, West Loop, South Loop, etc.)  Do you know what area of Chicago you are considering?  If you are considering the South Loop, you can't beat Chicago.  The South Loop is close to everything including multiple L trains (the "L" stands for elevated train), museums, lakefront, restaurants, shopping.  There is no better food in this country that the food in Chicago.  I would say pros are food, culture, friendly people and the cons are taxes and Chicago winters.
