Could anyone tell me their experiences of primary teaching? Highs and lows, availability of employment, typical day, workload, discipline etc. Have you found teachers to be a sociable bunch? Thanks

  1. As with all things, primary teaching varies from place to place. The highs are that you really do get to see growth in young people and that many of them love you for helping them. The lows are that they are kids and can be immature, as is too loud for the situations or interrupting.

It's all about redirecting with love and respect (that is a challenge) It's about forgiving them for doing things that annoy you and learning how to react in a way that is respectful, without sarcasm.

Finding out what individuals like and fostering it is difficult in large classes, so that can also be a challenge.

Work load, Reading 90 minutes, Math 60-90, Social Studies , Science, Art, Language Development, PE and Music each 30. Recess, lunch, prep
