I really want to work with the environment and animals, and I want to do something that I like and that is exciting. So what's a day like in the shoes of an environmentalist?

  1. It can involve many things - do you want to be a scientist? Do you want to be an environmental educator, do you want to be a park interpreter? There are many possibilities. It is a wonderful thing to be able to enjoy your occupation - and each day is usually different.  Colleagues are working with you instead of the rat race that most business have. It has been very personally rewarding for me.  The down side is that  it can be very frustrating at times financially. I have a degree in wildlife biology and have taught EE for 15 years and each day is different.  I also worked with graduate students on various study projects and it can be long, hard, and dirty work - but that never bothered me.  I loved seeing things few people get to see.  If  you don't mind living frugally - it is a wonderful path to take!

  2. Oh it's a blast. Just general yelling at people for not recycling, and telling everyone that they should be more Eco-friendly. My entire wardrobe is made up of recycle/save the planet t-shirts. If you want to work with animals, you should go volunteer at the SPCA, it'll be awesome. Also go online and try to find an Eco-friendly summer camp, in my experience it's the best place in the world. There's an amazing one in New York called Camp Rushford. Oh, and btw, the shoes should be anything but leather, preferably recycled or renewable substance.

  3. I picked up a piece of cardboard in the parking lot and put it in the cardboard recycling bin when I came in.   On friday I cut my lawn at the highest setting on my lawnmower so it wouldn't grow so fast and retains more moisture in the soil.
