What's larger in square miles,China or U.S.A?

Because on the NBC Olympic web site,they have China at 3,705,000 square miles.

And U.S.A at 3,794,000 square miles.

USA is larger in land area but china is larger in total area I believe but anyways both are close in size.

China is the size of the United States WITHOUT Minnesota.

China - land size: 9,326,410 sq km or 3,600,947.03 sq miles.

USA - land size: 9,161,923 sq km or 3,537,438.25 sq miles.
