Question:

What's left to strive for?

I can't bring myself to believe in the religion I once followed. I can't bring myself to think of "true love" as anything separate from a trick to continue the species. The essays I used to enjoy writing feel mostly like bs now that I've been shelling them out for so many years. What's left to strive for?

  1. Strive for hope.

    Live in the prescent

    strive for friendship.

    FRIENDSHIP

is a heart warming feeling, that can happen when two people are caught up in the act of being themselves together

  2. Travel.  Get out and see people living other kinds of ways than your own.  Realize it is a wide world, and there is much left undiscovered.  I don't think you should be striving for anything.  I know you may feel that everything you do is insignificant right now in your life, but when you instead enjoy the journey of life, instead of insisting it be some kind of grand march, you will start to discover the simple joys in life.  You will start to wake up and wonder about all the directions that day may take you.  Life is full of infinite possibilities.

You are growing.  As your perception of the world changes, your beliefs change, and so will your feelings about the world in general.  It sounds like you are in a rut right now, but it will pass.  It may not feel like it will, but, trust me, it will get better.  I've been there many times before.

  3. Why must there be something to strive for? Why must there be a purpose, goal or endpoint? In the west, children are taught at young age that life is a race from start to finish, but this is not in accordance with the true way the world works. You are just a minute element, a tiny fraction of reality, and what goes on in the world of any sort of consequence is so far beyond you. It is not your job to strive, but to simply live, to partake in the on goings of the universe. Once you realize what this means I guarantee you will be at much greater peace.

  4. You sound depressed. I suggest seeing your family doctor ASAP. Take care!
