  1. The legal drinking age is 18 years but they are less suspicious than in the US. They don't really check but you never know.

No! You can not legally smoke weed. You can be in trouble doing it.

    Fun stuff?? Hum... Maybe:

    - Cigarettes are banned from Public Places since january this year. You need to be 18 to buy a pack.

    - You need to be 18 to enter in a dance-club (Very often they don't check your ID).

    - You can buy beers in Mac Donalds (they should not check your ID at the cashier).

    - The famous fast food chain in France is Quick. Very famous!!! You must try.

    - Don't ask for a box if you have some leftovers in your plate in a restaurant.... French don't do that. If you do not finish your plate?? Too bad!

I hope I was able to help

  2. you can be served a drink but if under 18 usually just one, and weed is not legal

  3. Mmh, I'm not sure many of those are  funny facts...

Buying alcohol if +18, drinking it is +16, if you are caught drinking by the cops and you are under 16 expect troubles. Underage drinking is starting to be a problem and the cops have been told to be tough. Bars selling alcohol to teens can lose their license now. That does not mean that you cannot drink a glass of wine or a beer at home but that your host or guardian is responsible for it and for you.

Weed of any kind is forbidden, French cops have no sense of humour and drug usage does not tickle their funny bone.

Driving is over 18, with a legal license. To rent a car you need a driving license that is over three years old and a valid international credit card.

The Foreign Legion will  not accept you if you are under 18.

Super size Mc meals do not exist. The big size Mc meals in France are what you call normal size. There is no free refill.

There's no free refill of coffee, your coffee is served in one cup and is strong coffee.

French bread isn't. It is called Pain perdu (lost bread) and is not served at breakfast. The French don't understand why you call it French bread but as they already think that Americans are from another galaxy they just shrug it off.

Under 16 your guardian is responsible for what you do, over 16 you are responsible and liable.

If you ignore a warning it is your fault, for exemple even if there's no gate to stop you going down that way the sign is warning enough. If  you have an accident it will be all your fault, and you will have to pay the repairs as well. No sense of humour, I tell you...

French fries are from Belgium, and are called fries (frites) in France. No French attached.

Smoking is forbidden indoors except in your own house.

When you cross a street at a red light, wait for the coming cars to stop before crossing.

It is open season all year long for drivers in Paris. Step in the street at your own risk.   ;)  Seriously, be careful. We drive nearly like Italians.

Prepare to gape at some advertising posters showing scantily clad females if you come in the middle of a lingerie campaign. Lingerie ads have to be sensual.

    Have fun

  4. The legal age to purchase wine and beer is 16. To purchase distilled beverages (vodka, gin, etc) you must be 18.

There is NO minimum legal drinking age, only a minimum age to BUY alcohol. There is no law in France that is the equivalent of "Minor in possession" that is common in the USA.

Smoking marijuana or using other drugs is against the law. You do not want to be arrested in France.  The legal system is much different and you will be screwed in ways you can't imagine.
