What's my future for employment? psychic or empathy help please?

Question

I have been looking for employment, but I never get call backs after I submit my applications.

I am 31. I would like a job helping people, but if I can't do that I would like to find a job that I can handle.

I work for a school department now, but there is no work in the summer months.

I have a college certificate in human services. (college)

Make sure your resume is current.

And then utilize www.craigslist.com.

I have had more luck using that site for employment (for myself and friends) than just depending on Yahoo Hot Jobs, Monster Jobs, or Career Builder.

Have you considered social services?  Perhaps you could help foster children or those who are having difficulty getting their lives together.

If you apply for a position make sure you are the one to call them back.  When I was doing the hiring for a place I never called anyone.  I assumed if they wanted the job bad enough they would bring themselves to my attention.

A psychic isn't going to be able to see into your future.  One might be able to help you address the issues most important to you or to give you a gentle nudge in the right direction, but you don't want someone who knows almost nothing about you telling you what to do with the rest of your life.

Well i'd say you'd be perfect for an old age home.

If your a people person and love being around people im sure the elderly would love your help and love having someone to talk to?

On one of my past jobs I had to review applications for employment.  The first thing I did was toss out any that were not in black or blue ink.  Next was any that dot an i with a  smiley face or the like (always a sign of a loser).  Any that were not legible or miss spelled words, or could not follow instructions went bye-bye too.  You can cut down a stack of 100 or 200 to about 20 or so really fast.  When it comes down to it only about 5 were any good.   Don't under estimate the impression you resume and application make on employers.  Would want an employee that seems like they are still in grade 10 or some one more mature?

If you can't find a job with your current degree, either you're aiming too high or you need a better degree.  Or you need to work on your job application skills.  Maybe go to one of the companies that helps you re-write your resume to make you more marketable, or start looking for different types of jobs.

You don't need a psychic.  The future isn't set - you can still change it, so no one can tell you what it is (although plenty of people will take your money to guess).  If you want your future to change, go out there and change it.

I'm looking for a job too, it's sooooo frustrating!!  My dad talked to me about it and said, don't worry about all the rejection, that comes with a job search.  All you need is one yes, all the no's don't even matter.  Just keep at it, I totally understand how hard and frustrating it is.  Good luck I hope you find something soon!
