In India, there are so-much "moral police" that infact you can't count them. But the bottom line is every issue have some political potential.

Veteran painter M.F.Hussain's studio was vandalised by VHP groups. ShibSena feel some problem on Valentine Day, they beaten couple -celebrating their life, vandalised Archies stall in several parts of Mumbai. Muslim orthodox have very problem with controversial writter Taslima Nasrin.

And now atlast few BJP leader -such like Nitin. Gadakari ( Chief of Maharastra BJP cell) with Shothurghnu Sinha want to ban Cheerleaders in IPL on basis of their dress.

It's simple ironical that when there is "open skin" in film , Shothurghnu Sinha haven't any prolem.

  1. sounds like hiprocracy at it's finest,, no offense against muslims but they seem to take away certain rights,, it's like freedom of speech,, you are free to speak as long as you don't say anything to offend Me..

  2. India is a DEMOCRACY, I guess. And the people in this great country have a right to choice. It isn't really anyone's business as to what someone does in his/her own private house !

  3. cheerleaders are considered athletes in USA. i guess politicians who are comparing cheerleaders to bar girls are much more vulgar than supposedly vulgar cheerleaders. Corrupt politicians in India often use these innocuous issues to divert attention from real issues. every year there is a flood in Mumbai and no measures are taken to control that. I guess a flood which kills people disturbs their lifestyle for days is much more vulgar and important issue than some cheerleaders dancing

    get a life

BJP shiv sena and Narendra Modi are zillion times more vulgar.

  4. It is just another political gimmick.

They sit in front of dancing girls and Hollywood shows . These cheerleaders are better dressed than some of those.

Saw Minister commenting to media: we cannot sit with family.

If u saw him, he looks the type who sits alone to watch them!!!

Not that I think cheerleaders are needed to add to glamour; just do not like these negativity here.

And Shotgun Sinha has had a good time himself all his life. He should now keep quiet.

We did see some Indian fully clothed cheerleaders too. So funny! why have them at all if it  clashes with culture.

  5. No problem whatsoever!

Hindi films allowed for general viewing show much more skin!!

  6. If you are going by the cultural values, then it may be a problem

to those who are old timers and others who are sentimental to

the culture. Wearing skimpy tight and skimpy clothing is not

of Indian values and it is seen only in bollywood and on the screens. Somehow the same people accept it is ok on the

screen. But my problem with them - let alone the clothing and

the dances they have, but they are in very small number. The

purpose of the cheerleaders is to excite the crowds and in any

US games, you will see no less than 12-25 as a group. This is

in a much smaller stadium, but cricket stadiums are large and

if you need to have them have them in 8-10 places around

the boundary line. Right know we see in one corner and a

    small group of 4-6.

I have no comments on the groups you have mentioned and

there is no connection between them and cricket or IPL.

  7. I don't see any problems with the cheerleaders,..... they are part of the T20 culture, I've seen some of the dance numbers in their movies .....  they show a lot of skin in them, too.....

    Then why the hypocrisy ??

  8. It is just that people want some issue to focus so as to get attention from the masses.
