  3. About 63% (+- 1%) of the diameter of the ball.

    So, about 1.4175 or roughly 1 and 27 / 64th of an inch.

  4. 7/10 the diameter of the ball is the general rule.  Throught trial and error this was determined to be the best height for the nose of the cushion to provide the best rebound action.  Any higher and the balls could be "stuck" under the cushion and and lower and the balls would tend to leave the table.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.
