  2. It's a choc/malt powder you mix with milk for a delicious hot or cold food drink. Yumm!

Milo doesn't fully dissolve in cold milk so you get crunchy choc/malt bits on top of the milk that you eat with a spoon, which kids love.

Hot milo is like hot chocolate only chocolate and malty.

Most Aussie kids have grown up on a glass of cold Milo or cup of hot Milo and Vegemite on Vita-Wheat, for a mid morning or mid afternoon snack.

Milo is a bit like Ovaltine, if you know what that is.

Ovaltine is also available here but not as nice.

I believe MILO is available in many countries in Asia also New Zealand and Canada.

Here's what it says on the tin.

MILO by Nestlé - Energy Food Drink

    Formulated Supplementary Food

    Low GI

    6 Essential Vitamins & Minerals

    Now you can also buy:

MILO Food Bars, MILO Breakfast Cereal, MILO Chilled Dairy (ready to go drink), MILO Mousse (dessert), MILO Malt, MILO Ice Cream.

  6. The name of the cat on the move 'Milo and Otis'.

  7. Apart from being a personal name, it is a chocolate malted flavoured powder.   It may be added to hot or cold milk for a chocolate malted milk drink.  Originated by the Nestle company in Australia but popular in Malaysia too.

Another use of the word is for grain sorghum, which usually produces a brown seed similar in size and colour to the granules for the drink.

That may be coincidence but I've often wondered whether the drink was named for the grain.  But the official origin is that it was named for a ancient Greek strongman called Milo.
