What's something in France that changed how they live today.?

  1. The creation of the European Union. For the first time ever the other neighbouring countries stopped being the enemy.

    Apart from the Brits of course, they came in the EU only to stop it from being built (blow raspberry at Rosbif). ;D

    Joking apart, it totally changed the world view of the French and the way their lived. Germany, Spain, Italy and even Great Britain are places to visit, not "actual allies who will one day turn enemy" of yore. Even the Brits.


  2. Being allowed to think that General de Gaulle won the Second World War single-handed (in order to prevent the communists taking power after the war) REALLY hasn't done them any favours.

    They are only just now beginning to get over themselves.

    EDIT To all the thumbs-down merchants: France is the only country in the world which manages to get the French flag (representing French forces) onto a map of the D-Day invasions...there were a dozen nationalities more heavily involved on June 6th, but the French don't want to know about it...a bit like the Americans and their attitude to "W" "W" "2".
