What's teh surf like at Wakiki beach, Honolulu Oahu, Hawaii in September?

...Just generally. Wondering coz i heard the best place to go in the winter months (for the Northern Hempishpere) is to the North Shore?

Waikiki is perfect in November to learn how to surf.  You don't need the monster waves of the North Shore to have fun.  There are breaks to enjoy from Waikiki all the way around Diamond Head.
