What's that USB port on the back of my cable box for?

i have a Scientific Atlanta cable box from Cablevision and i am curious to know why there is a USB on the back.

  1. The cable company doesn't have to offer the feature to run cable to your PC.  You just need a PC with Media Center to do it.  And you can play certain movies such as downloaded movies on your PC and view them on your TV.  Has nothing to do with the Cable Company.  Has everything to do with your PC.


  2. The idea is to connect to a computer, but most cable cos haven't activated it. You could in theory stream music and pictures from your PC.

    If you had a DVR, you could use it to add a larger hard drive, but again, most cable cos haven't activated that feature.

    For a complete list of the amazing things your box can do, but your cable co won't share, get the model number and visit the Scientific Atlanta web site.
