  1. First off, let me say, don't try to eat it! My wife and I went to a Japanese restaurant many years ago on a cold winter night and found what turned out to be small warm wet wash cloths neatly folded at our table setting. I had no idea what they were at first, but I thought they were something edible such as an egg roll or whatever. Thankfully, I didn't bite into it. I knew better than to assume that that was what it was, so I poked at it slowly and cautiously and discovered that it was a cloth to wipe and warm the face and fingers from the cold. If it was a cold winter eve at the hotel, I'm willing to bet that what you received was something similar, to warm and refresh yourself upon arrival.
