Question:

What's the 'La Lechera Dulce de Leche' you can buy in a can by Nestle?

I bought it on a whim at my grocery store because it reminded me of someone a friend of mine used to always have when we were very young.

I'm just confused about what it actually is? I opened the can and tasted it and it's almost like a very soft caramel.

Also, any recipes for this?

  1. It is basically carmel.  It's good in cake fillings and frostings, milk shakes and as ice cream toppers.  I use it as frosting a lot, I just mix it in with some fairly non-flavored white frosting and add some nuts.

    LA LECHERA DULCE de LECHE CHEESECAKE

    1 envelope (7 grams) unflavored gelatin

    1/2 cup hot water

    1 package (8 oz.) cream cheese , at room temperature

    1 can (13.4 oz.) NESTLÉ LA LECHERA Dulce de Leche

    2 teaspoons vanilla extract

    1 cup heavy whipping cream and 1 tablespoon granulated sugar , whipped until soft peaks form

    1 prepared 10-inch (9 oz.) graham cracker crust

    Chocolate syrup

    METHOD:

    MIX gelatin and hot water in small bowl until dissolved; set aside.

    BEAT cream cheese and dulce de leche in large mixer bowl until creamy. Stir in gelatin mixture and vanilla extract. Fold in whipped cream. Pour into graham cracker crust. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours or until set. Serve drizzled with chocolate syrup.

    Serving Size: 10

  4. I know first hand girly! It is a cream of milk like carmel! My memories of this is it was drizzled over baked apples and cinnamon. I think you can make any carmel type topping with it.
