  1. It's a method of preparing for childbirth.

The other methods that you hear about are Lamaze and hypnobirthing.

  2. I prefer the Milton Bradley method.

  3. The bradley method is a form of birthing with a coach, (usually a husband/boyfriend or wife/girlfiend).  The coach's job is to help the mother through natural childbirth as much as possible (breathing, pushing, counting etc).  Personally i like to be left alone and i definitley didnt like anyone telling me what to do (especially a man).

  4. Here is a link to there website.  Feel free to email me with any questions if you are interested in it.

    Bradleybirth.com

  5. I found this site when I was pregnant. I was trying to decide what to use and considered the Bradley method but we just ended up buying a lamaze dvd. It was kind of nice just laying in bed with my husband in the privacy of our home and watching it when ever we had the time.

    "What is The Bradley Method®?

The Bradley Method® teaches natural childbirth and views birth as a natural process. It is our belief that most women with proper education, preparation, and the help of a loving and supportive coach can be taught to give birth naturally. The Bradley Method® is a system of natural labor techniques in which a woman and her coach play an active part. It is a simple method of increasing self-awareness, teaching a woman how to deal with the stress of labor by tuning in to her own body. The Bradley Method® encourages mothers to trust their bodies using natural breathing, relaxation, nutrition, exercise, and education.

How is The Bradley Method® Unique?

    1. The Bradley Method® teaches couples ways to stay low risk. While occasionally there are risk factors out of your control, staying healthy and low risk can help to avoid complications. Low risk mothers have more choices.

    2. Relaxation is the Key to The Bradley Method® during labor. It is the safest and most effective way to reduce unnecessary pain and to handle any pain that you do experience. While other methods seek to control the sensations of labor (emphasizing distraction as their Primary labor control technique), The Bradley Method® encourages mothers to trust their bodies (emphasizing relaxed abdominal breathing and relaxation throughout labor).

    3. The term Bradley® is a registered trademark to ensure you are getting quality childbirth education. All Bradley® instructors are highly trained to help you learn how to give birth."

  6. the bradley method is one of the most popular methods of natural childbirth. there are quite a few different methods, the most popular being bradley, hypnobirth and lamaze. i'm pretty sure that the bradley method is fairly widely taught tho it may not be available in your area depending on where you live and how large your town is.

it stresses deep relaxation during childbirth instead of distraction (lamaze)  it is somewhat similar to hypnobirthing except that hypnobirth encourages you to "breathe" your baby out and not push. also a big part of the bradley method is a good healthy diet and doing the right exercises to get your body ready to have a baby.

as far as i'm aware there are no down sides to doing the bradley method. some people consider natural childbirth to be the downside but i disagree.

i am 34 weeks pregnant and will be doing the bradley method. if you want to know more about it feel free to email me or you can read the book "the husband coached birth" by dr. robert bradley.

all classes are taught by certified teachers who have been taught by the actual couple who coined the term "bradley method". that couple were patients of dr. bradley's (he called the method of birth "husband coached birth") and he worked with that couple to create a program to teach other people to give birth naturally.
