What's the Difference between a Cylcone and a Typhoon?

  1. The location.  If it's moving through the Atlantic or the Eastern Pacific, it's called a cyclone.  If it's affecting the asian countries, then it's called a typhoon.


  2. THERE ALL THE SAME!!!!!

  3. Geography.  Or should I say location.  That is the only difference.  One is in the upper pacific and one in the lower.  Though a typhoon is technically a type of cyclone.

Only where they are located.  A Typhoon, Cyclone, or Hurricane are all the same type of tropical low pressure system.  They are just called different names based on where they are located.  If over the north Indian Ocean, they are called Cyclones, if over the western Pacific Ocean, they are called Typhoons, while over the eastern Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean basin, they are called Hurricanes.
