2x-2, 2, x-1

The problem's:

(6 / 2x-2) plus (1 / 2) = 3 / (x-1)

Yahoo won't let me put them in fraction form, so i hope you can see it alright.

anyone who'd like to solve for x too, be my guest :D

But please help me find the LCD so I can cancel out the fractions.

Thanks!!!

  1. its 2x-2

    leave 6 / 2x-2 alone

    multiply 1/2 by (x-1)/(x-1)

    multiply 3 / x-1   by 2/2

  2. Note that 2x-2 = 2(x-1)

    So the LCD is 2(x-1).

I'll let you try to solve that question first. =]
