What's the Problem between Russia and Georgia?

Whats is going on now in the world? more war?? cant we live in Peace? i suppose someone has to step in now and help, who will that be the mighty USA?? Will Russia then start a War with them, Geeshh!! Its like watching kiddies fighting in Playschool, we are so primitive still, we are watching the Olympics in China in the name of Harmony and Peace whilst the Chinese are killing Tibetans, and now Russia is killing peacefull people in Georgia, We humans really are Pathetic. Stop the world and let me get off, Ive had enough of this Hippocritical Garbage.

Russia has invaded Georgia over disputed territory. There are many Russians living in this territory. This is Russia's way of asserting some kind of prestige again by bullying Georgia because they want to join the European Union and Russia is trying to discourage them from joining.

America should stay clear of this conflict at this time, would be my advice.

In the Middle Ages, Georgia was independent.  Turkey then defeated it and Russia tried centuries to get it for themselves and did so in the 1700s.  When the Russian empire recently broke up, Georgia became a sovereign nation again but, just as Hitler used ethnic pockets of Germans in other countries that wanted to be part of Germany as an attempt to restore the old empirical boundaries, so does Putin and like Hitler, Putin's power derives on the anger of a people that went from Great Power to former Great Power.  War can be averted if Russia is not given a Munich Agreement.

The difference in the Georgia case is that Russia is already occupying the Georgian "Sudetenland" and that Georgia had the audacity to send troops in to attempt stopping the Russian backed terrorists that have been killing Georgians.  That was probably not such a smart thing to do especially since Europe has given Putin carte blanche in Georgia with their refusal to admit Georgia into NATO and Russia has been looking for and trying to create situations since that would make a Georgian invasion look reasonable to the world press.

Just facts: Russia did not initiate military action.  Georgia's forces has bombed and destroyed the region's capital and 1400 civilians in just the 1st day.  There can be no justification for that.  DO NOT forget this point. For the rest, see the videos below.

I side with Georgia in this conflict, but I would hardly call them peaceful.

What happened was that Georgia was trying to retake the separatist province of South Ossetia. While Georgia was doing this, Russia then invaded South Ossetia and started fighting the Georgians (aiding the rebels), claiming that Georgia was killing Russians that were in South Ossetia. All this comes at a time when Georgia is trying to join NATO(something Russia is against) and Russia is getting increasingly aggressive towards the West (doing things like flying bomber missions near the US and UK, claiming the North Pole, and claiming it has built an ICBM that will defeat the US/NATO missile defense system in Europe).

I hate to sound like a cynic, but people are hypocrites by nature. That is just how we are. Where there is a big guy who still isn't as big as he'd like, he is going to pick on the nearest little guy, maybe try and rile up the really big guys while he's at it.
