What's the Walther P22 like?

does it have low recoil? is it a good gun for protecting yourself on the streets? how many rounds does it hold? and how much do they usually go for new or used?

  1. Low recoil as in any other .22 semi auto pistol.  Poor choice for self protection due to small caliber.  The shot may be fatal, but rather poor stopping power.  Good gun to learn on, and rather inexpensive to shoot.


  2. The Walther P22 is a reliable gun for target shooting. It is low recoil (as any .22lr is going to be). It is not a good choice for personal protection. Generally something in the .380 ACP is the smallest caliber recommended for personal protection. The Walther holds 10 + 1 (that's 10 in the magazine and one in the chamber). New they are in the $300 - $400 range. There are different models and the price varies according to finish and other options. Used one can be picked up for about $250 - $350.
