  1. Molly is exactly correct. Just make sure you refine your answer to 1 29/56.

  2. turn them both into improper fractions by multiplying the denomenator with th whole number and andd the numerator: 13 3/8 =8 multiplied by 13 + 3=107. keep the same denominator. .107/8. 11 6/7= 7multiplied by 11 +  6= 83/7.

    Now make a common denominator:

    107/8multiply by 7       83/7multiply by 8 = 749/56      664/56

    NOW SUBTRACT:

    749-664=85/56

    85divided by 56=1R29

    =1 29/56

  3. You need a common denominator.  56 will definitely work because it is 8 x 7.

Also make the fractions improper, it is much easier to solve.

    13 3/8= 107/8

    11 6/7 =83/7

    107/8 X 7/7= 749/56

    83/7 X 8/8= 664/56

    749/56- 664/56= 85/56

    85/56 Is your answer
