Question:

What's the approximate fine for Trespassing for a 13 year old?

I'm only 13. I live in Alberta. This is the first time I've dealt with the police.

My friends broke into an abandoned school and pressured me into it. The cops came and told me I had to go to court.

I just want to know how much the fine might be. I can't get a job yet , and I don't want my family to have to pay it all , so is there a way that I could lower it?

I've been stressing out about this so much. I've lost days of sleep thinking about what's gonna happen , so I'd really appreciate it if you'd answer seriously.

Thankyou.

  1. You might be able to do community service instead but youll probably have to pay court fines which depends on where you live. Im suprised you werent arrested. Everything will work out i screwed up and stole from a store and got grand theft and everything worked out and i got all charges dropped. Good luck.

  2. Ginger B,

In your other questions, you pose this same question, only state you are 14.   I will give you the benefit of the doubt and state that it is a typo, and not an act of dishonesty (as that will definitely not make your situation any better in court!)

Here is the answer to your same question where you state you are 14 years old:

    Ginger B,

You have asked this same question several times.

The punishment varies.  It depends on the circumstances of the offence, your behaviour during and after arrest, your past involvement with police and/or criminal record, etc. The specific punishment is completely up to the judge, and changes on a daily basis based on the judge/juristiction/flavour of the day.

As a youth, you would have the opportunity to tell the judge that you do not have any money and could request community service in lieu of a fine.
