What's the aspx file

while searching on the internet i found a file named admin-something.aspx.. I don't know what aspx file is.. for example exe is application, jpg is a picture, doc is a document. what is aspx and is it safe to download the file?

aspx is derived from Microsoft.NET's web platform.

Some people code in PHP, some people code in visual basic, etc..

ASP is a programming language, which is used to develop web pages (like html, but html is not a programming language)

In short, its a webpage source code file.

You "can" download it, but it will be useless to you!.

Would you download a php file? no lol.

ASPX file extension is for web pages coded in ASP.NET programming language.

ASPX file can be used to send any kind of file to your browser. I think this is the case. Its OK to download it... its also the only way to check the file type. Once it starts to download, your browser might show you that its a JPEG, ZIP, EXE (etc) file and show the "Save as" option.
