My cousin in Lodz is getting married and we want to give her enough money to purchase a washing machine (and maybe dryer?).

I guess $500 (about 1000 zl) would be enough for a washing machine.

That would be about PLN 1000-2000 (depending on the brand and extras, such as silenced motor), plus about PLN 300-500, if the dryer is included. Today's exchange rate is PLN 2.12 to US $ 1 or PLN 3.31 to EUR 1.
