What's the average salary like in the Caribbean?

I know this will obviously depend upon location. I'm thinking of some sort of 5 to 10 year plan to eventually move to the Caribbean and was wondering what the salary might be for a person involved in the investment/finance industry. Something like investment research or that sort of thing. I guess in a general sense, are the salaries that much lower than in america? or are they competitive due to the higher cost of living? any info is much appreciated!

  1. You really can't get an answer to this question because there are tons of different professions in the caribbean, each offering a wide difference in salary.  Obviously tourism is the largest industry in the caribbean, but even then tourism levels fluctuate from year to year.  So you could have an outstanding sales revenue one year, and a very poor one the next.

  2. You can get a good salary like in the USA only if the company that you work for or that you will work for make a contract in USA and transfer you to a Caribbean island. So you get pay in US Dollars. I have some friend that work in the tourism industry (Casino manager) He got he job offer like that. making about US$5,000 or more monthly with some other extra benefits.

The only Island that might similar salary to the US is the Bahamas.

Then then of the island is below. With some individual exception of course..

  3. Salaries vary depending on many factors. To find more accurate salary data you can try www.bls.gov, monster.com ,salary.com or PayScale.com. You will find that jobs like these are negotiable when it comes to salary.More information, tips and help at http://moreaboutsalary.blogspot.com/

  4. I live in Puerto Rico and have worked for many companies in the construction business. The best advice would  to be employed from a company that resides in the US because then your wages would be higher. The economy down here is going down the tubes and the unemployment rate is twice as that in the States.
