Question:

What's the basic manicure procedure at a small-town salon?

I'm generally a do-it-yourselfer, so I've never had my nails done...I usually keep them pretty on my own. So what does the basic manicure entail? Will she put acrylic nails on my natural ones or will she just file and shape my natural ones? (mine are already pretty short, but well-kept.)

I'm using a gift certificate someone bought for me not too long ago to pay for it, will this call for the same quality of service or not so much because it's a gift certificate...?

I'm a bit clueless. I just know when my appointment is.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

  1. She will just file and shape your natural ones, uunless you request other nails to be put on.

Honestly they always do the basics unless you request more, but usually you're the one who tells them how you want it done anyways.

  2. The salon usually first soak your nails to sanitize them and soften the cuticles. Then they shape your nails by filing them and push your cuticles back and put cuticle oil on them. Then they buff your nails and then add polish on. Usually they dont put on fake nails unless you request for it. Generally they suppose to keep the natural shape of your nail

Good luck and bring your own tools (some salons are not that clean and they may not sanitize the tools)
