What's the best ID protection program?

I'm looking for a good ID protection program. Don't say Lifelock, because I refuse to give a criminal my personal info! Also, are there any good programs that can also cover my kids?

Thanks

  1. You should speak to your home insurance provider.  Most homeowners insurance policies these days can be endorsed to have some type of identity theft protection (depending on the company, of course!)  This will not repay monies stolen but will provide for your expenses up to a set limit while working through the process, things like new loan applications, notary fees, etc.  Also, major insurance carriers have experience with this and some will have services set up to assist you through the process.

Easiest identity theft avoidance tip?  Get a PO Box for your mail, use gel pens to write checks (can't be washed off) and use cash more often!
