What's the best NFL game of all time?

As a Broncos fan I'm obviously a bit biased, but as contenders I'd choose the 1987 regular season game against The Bears, with unbelievable scrambling from Elway, and the 1991 season (Jan 1992) divisional play-off game against Jack Pardee's run and shoot Oilers when, 10 points down with very little time left, Elway completes two 4th and 10 passes. Also, the 1998 49ers-Packers wild card game is right up there.

PS - Let's have some of the less well known games (ie, no Ice Bowl, 1982 Chargers v Dolphins, etc.).

  1. I have to go with Dallas Cowboys vs San Francisco 49ers, Joe Montana's throw for a touchdown in the last 10 second plays giving a championship for 49ers, it was crazy

  2. Buffalo's comeback vs the Oilers comes to mind right away but I think I'd have to pick last year's Super Bowl as one of the greatest.  Just based upon the magnitude of the game itself and compound it with NE being undefeated, it had everyone on the edge of their seats.

  3. Steelers vs. Raiders

  4. I enjoyed the 1980 playoff game between Cleveland and Oakland that ended on a last second interception by Raiders safety Mike Davis to preserve a 12-10 win.

  5. December 23,1972.  Steelers vs. Raiders.  When Franco Harris caught the Imaculate Reception.

  6. Maybe last year when SD put up a 40-burger at DEN!

LOL what was it... SD 42, DEN 3?

  7. I would say the Packers vs. Oakland game the day after Brett Favre's dad died. Favre passed for 399 yards and 4 TDs. Packers won 47-3 in week 16 of the 2003 season.

  8. According to Steve Sobal of NFL Films, the play with Manning-Tyree was the greatest in SB history.  SB 42 is giving the best-of-all-time Unitas-Namath game a run for its money.

The importance of the Colts-Jets game was that noone thought the Colts could be upset and certainly not by a puny AFL team and Namath's bragging.  The suspense of the game had more people paying attention to football than ever before.  Because of this game, football became the big money sport it is today.  Before this game, it wasn't really covered at all nationally.

However, SB 42 has the Magic Play and also the beating of the first 18-0 team. Also, the amazing beasts of the Giants' defense and the two minute drive to end the game, with Bellichek leaving the stadium early without offering congrats.  A real cliffhanger this one was, too.

Hard to say yet which one will be rated the greatest in a few years.  They both are amazing in history.  However, for pure play, I'll go with last year's SB.

  9. Super Bowl III. It ushered in the age of the NFL as we know it.

  10. Have to go with last year's Super Bowl the Giants ending the Patriots quest for perfection. Even though it was a low scoring affair it still was the best of all the Super Bowls.

Historically though the 1958 NFL Championship between the Colts and Giants is considered the best by many.

  11. I like the charger Viking from last years regular season. 2 records were set. Adrian Peterson ran for 296 yards and Antonio Cromartie returned a missed field goal 110 yards. The records were most rushing yards and longest return of a kick, punt,or field goal. SB 42 and Namath are also good but u wanted some less known game.
