  1. For Hunting: Taurus Raging Bull .454casull, for it's convincing ballistics and compatibility with the lighter, cheaper .45 LC for target practice.

For Home Defense: Any solid .357 with a 6" barrel.

For Daily Carry: Glock 23 in .40 sw, due to its reasonable cost and stopping power. It's light and forgiving (not like the DE...forget that flashy conversation piece).

  2. Q:  What's the best Pistol?

A:  You are not providing enough info. to process your question.  Best for what?  Home defense?  Personal defense?  Duty carry?  Backup?  Concealed carry?  Hunting?  If you mean to ask what is the best pistol overall?  Then the quick answer is this:

The best pistol is the one that is already in your hand when you need it the most.  That's the one that'll have to do for ya!

  3. deagle :D

  4. Different guns are best for different reasons in different applications

There is no one best gun

  5. many different guns are the best for different people. i like colts and springfields. but i think the best gun is a FN Five-seveN. it has what i consider the best bullet size and that is the 5.7x28mm. the bullets can go thru light body armor. that is only the civie ammo to. add that with a twenty round clip i say that is really lethal.

  6. With a question like this, everyone seems to have their own opinion.  Personally, as a former machinist local gunsmith in my area, I have had a chance to work on many pistols, and rifles.

I am a personal fan of the Glock.  It is quite probably one of the best designed "working" pistols ever made.  Now I use the phrase working pistol, because of its simplicity in design and operation.

Gaston Glock wanted to keep the design simple.  His idea was to reduce the amount of training time it took for Police and Military personnel to train and maintain the firearm.

There are many different designs of semi-automatic pistol, however the Glock is the most simplistic.

As an instructor, and collector, I have several different semi-automatic pistols, ranging from the rugged and sturdy, Ruger P-89 Series, to include, CZ's 75B, Beretta 92FS, Glock 22, (.40 S&W), Smith & Wesson 5940, H&K USP .45, H&K .45, IMI Desert Eagle .357 Magnum, H&K P-7 M-8, Mateba .44 Magnum, (Slide Action Revolver), and that is just to mention a few.

I do not own a 1911A1, though it is a pretty good pistol, its not one that I care to own, mainly because I am not a 1911A1 fan, but there are serious reliability issues with these firearms.  Quite honestly they were the bread and butter of the shop.  They were great guns, (great at keeping the shop busy, and making money).

That being said, they normally started having trouble when folks would try to customize the firearm themselves.  Colt 1911A1's being the worst offender.  If given a choice, the best ones made are manufactured by Springfield.  The Colts, were not the best.

But again, they had issues after parts were installed by the owners to make them "better".  Basically, we never saw the ones that came out of the box and were left in their original configuration.

But all in all, for function and reliability, I would have to say Glock has them all beat squarely.

    Good Luck, and happy shooting.

  7. It depends. For me it's GLOCK. I personally tested it during operations and never failed me. Result : 3 criminals dead.

  8. there is no best gun, some guns are used for different things and are better than others in some areas but worse in others, but for me its an M1A and a S&W 1911

  9. the answer to that question depends on what you want it for!

some pistols are better for personal protection, some are better for target competition, while others are better for just raw firepower.

my opinion is that one of the best all-around pistols ever made is the colt .45 model 1911.

like with everything, there are benefits and drawbacks to every gun. 1911's are not as easy to conceal as lets say a S&W J frame model 36 cheif special, but they deliver awesome stopping power. if i could only have one gun, it would probably be a 1911.

  10. I only speak for myself anymore, and so it goes, a well-made .22 long rifle caliber revolver or semi-auto. They are a pleasure to shoot in that they have no recoil so you can stay on target, they are very cheap to shoot because most .22 long rifle ammo is only $2-$4 for a 50 round box, and it's a good way to teach newcomers how to shoot, as well as refresh the fundamentals of pistol shooting for experienced pistol shooters.

  11. As far as a full sized pistol I love my Beretta 92FS. If your interested in a sub-compact I have heard great things about the Beretta PX4 sub compact, and I am looking forward to trying one out.  Its hard to just pick a "best pistol"  it depends on what your looking for in a pistol, but I would always go with a Beretta.

  12. The one that fits most comfortably in your hand, and the one you shoot most accurately.

  13. my dad has a taurus 1911 .45 caliber all black pistol. its a semi auto and a very good gun. used by police officers and some military use. ambidextrous everything and very reliable. and has a number of safety features on it that guns that are a lot more expensive would have. its cheap, reliable, safe, accurate, and is a US company.
