My personal favorite is from Johnny Depp to Orlando Bloom:

"This isn't brain surgery. No one is going to die if you mess up, so just do it."

  1. Jack Lemmon about film acting:  small voice, huge thoughts.

  2. Jay Leno once told me it's important to live on what you make in the arts.  That way you'll concentrate on getting better at the arts and not at waiting tables or serving drinks.

  3. I love this quote that came from Joanne Woodward.

"Acting is like s*x. You should do it, not talk about it."

  4. Eartha Kitt, in a conversation with young actors years ago, said never to cheat an audience.  They're there for the first time, and just because you've done the material a thousand times and you're tired that day doesn't mean that the audience shouldn't get your best work.

  5. Cathy Rigby once told me to be myself, have fun, and laugh a lot!

  6. Spencer Tracy to guests at his house who were discussing the Method and heavy junk about acting when asked what he thought said, " I think it is very important for an actor to learn his lines."
