Question:

What's the best approach when dealing with two fighting female cats?

I've got two female cats, both were previously non-aggressive towards each other for years. But when the first cat (Cocoa-13 years old) started fighting with the second (Ashley-8 years old), we eventually took her to the vet and found out that she had a urine infection! After that Cocoa was fine and wouldn't attack Ashley. Now, it's the opposite, Ashley is extremely aggressive towards Cocoa! I took Ashley to the vet this time and she got a clean bill of health, so I am thinking it's psychological, but no clue how to help her! PLEASE help me and my family, we currently have to keep the two cats in separate rooms. Btw, the vet didn't help us too much, so if anyone knows how to deal with this situation don't bother to answer back!!

  1. I think that the previous 2 answers were good, but I would add that Trim the nails of BOTH cats.  That way they any "hitting" won't cause too much damage...you don't want that.  Another thing I would try is more exercise for them both it will tire them out and they may be able to relax with one another.  Maybe a tie out in the yard with you there or a fenced in yard to play out side for limited times. Be sure to be there with them.  i have done this with my youngest cat and it has really helped.

Finally, I have done some reading on homeopathic remedies....there are many out there for aggression and stress.

This is just one...but if you go to the site they ARE trying to sell a product, but go down the page to the section called "The natural way"

It may give you more ideas.

  2. What are tehy doing? Is Ashley going out of her way to torment Cocoa, or is Cocoa trying to groom/play/etc with Ashely first?

I'd sit down with some treats and a food they can't resist and see if you cant get them to ust chill by each othe and snack.

  3. make them hang out n if they fight spray them with water so they know its a no no
