What's the best bank for students in Lawrence, KS?

I don't want to pay any extree fees and I want to open a free checking account that don't require me to maintain a certain minimum every month. Since I will be a student, I won't have much money. Of course, it should be FDIC insured.

Good move on your part...FDIC is important when doing business with banks.  I have seen and know of a few that are not FDIC. Best thing to do is call a few and talk to them. Or visit them. Beware of accounts that require you to hold a said amount in your account or you may face charges for being under their MIN requirement.   And anything you put in there...They will deduct for service charge.  Becareful read the fine print.
