  1. Try a small community bank. The larger banks are usually impersonal and tend to treat you like a number. Choose a bank that is close to your home or job and has a friendly atmosphere when you first walk in. The reception you get on the first meeting will usually be the way they always are. I have worked in banking for over 30 years and I avoid the big banks, they just dont seem to care about the individual. Most banks are FDIC but some like credit unions are not so make sure.

  2. ok

  3. research several in your community.  More importantly, ask around and ask people whom you trust who they bank with.  Ultimately, compare interest rates with feedback from your friends.  A good tip is to bank with a company which has been in business a very long time and is very reputable.  This ensures they won't likely go out of business

  4. I like Flagstar Bank for all of my small business needs.  Online banking is the way to go and I can't live without remote deposit since I am traveling so much.  Mobile banking is the best if you run a small business like I do.

Right now they are offering a $100 incentive if you make them your bank.

They have, free checking, free online bill pay, free wireless banking and over 170 convenient locations.  Overall, their customer service is why I like them and recommend them.

    I hope this helps...
