  2. If you'd like a pub near the river, go for:

    The Trafalgar Tavern

This pub overlooks the River Thames.

If you prefer a pub beside the artsy crafty market, choose:

    Coach and Horses

By the way, Greenwich is one of my favourite places to go in London.  There is a fantastic view of London from Greenwich Park, near the Observatory, and you can cross the Time Line!

  3. Depends what you mean by bar!

If you want a pub, the best in the centre is The Gypsy Moth by far.

  4. It depends on what you consider to be a great bar really.  If you are looking for a 'pub' atmosphere and a local ambience, try the Union on Royal Hill.  It sells a great variety of beers and has a small but perfectly formed beer garden for use in the summer.  The staff are friendly and its what I would consider to be a 'proper pub'.

St Christophers Inn (which is next to Greenwich Mainline station) is a backpackers/students drinkers kind of place - quite good value drinks and a much younger crowd.  They have a dj on the weekends and its open late.  Its also a pretty convenient location.  The Gipsy Moth (right next to the Cutty Sark and just after Starbucks) is not a bad option if you want to eat.  GREAT beer garden and BBQ's in the summer.  Its a classic pub and there is plenty of space/nooks and crannies so you don't feel like you are in a slug and lettuce.... :)

My personal favourite in Greenwich is DAVYS WINE BAR.  It sells great wines, some good beers and is something a little bit different.  Its a bit like being in a cave and the floors have a good sawdust sprinkling - its very rustic and you bring your own entertainment if you understand my meaning - this is a not a place to go if you need music.  Great place to chill with a bottle of wine and a bowl of chips (the hummus/olive platter is also great) and mull over things with a mate.    Hope this helps.
