  1. If you must, rent. At the end of the day, you can just tie it up and go home, no worries. By "worries" I mean dockage, (dock rental) storage, insurance, fuel, hurricane preparation, etc.

  2. its better to own. if you look around you can find privet homes  who will let you dock at there dock for a small fee, you  must check with other boaters  -not- marinas. good luck

  3. There's a saying we have in the boating business, but I'm sure it's used elsewhere: "If you have to ask how much it costs, you can't afford it."

  4. Well, dockage can be sky high in Miami!!!!,it begins to get a little cheaper north of Fort Lauderdale...my boat is in west palm beach municipal marina and costs me 700 bucks a month  for 37fter......dont know what sort of boat you are looking at,,locals use open t-topped boats say like Dusky 26 with twin   150s or bigger ,these are ideal for fast forays into gulf stream, bays etc...now this type of boat can be kept in racks and average about three hundred a month to store...shop around its the only way ..  ,my yacht in Miami would cost 1200 to 1500 per month dockage only ...good luck,,most prices can be found by internet if you know the name of marina.Last word...it can be cheaper down the keys if you  dont pick favourites ie Key west,,newer chartplotters carry marina information and you can work your way along waterway phoning around to gain best prices..
