  1. As others have pointed out, NE, MIN, and SD are all great defenses.  I would lean towards NE simply because they have the easiest schedule in the NFL this year.

  2. I am happy with the Patriots, but it is really a toss up between the top few defenses.  Patriots, Vikings, San Diego.

  3. The Vikings...

  4.   Defence-patriots

    Special teams-Browns

  5. I wouldn't pick the patriots their defensive line is getting old doesn't mean anything really because their still solid i would just get some fresh young legs vikings D is going to be really solid this season! I'll get them, but you might want to stick with the patriots because they have a very easy schedule other great picks are steelers, Jags & chargers....Special Teams I would either get Bears or Jags....Bears their special team always block good for Hester and he always using his speed to break for several ko returns and Jags because Maurice Jones Drew return 6 ko's....so you can't go wrong with them...

  6. The Vikings, because...touchdowns are the x-factor.

I don't know if anyone has ever done any sort of statistical analysis of fantasy NFL, but from my own personal observation it seems as if the regular position players usually get a fairly predictable cumulative score. On a week with a few high scoring games, everyone benefits. Low scoring affairs, everyone suffers. You can lose 90-88 one week and win 76-70 the next.

What I've noticed is that defenses range a lot in their potential. Top defenses give you dependable points every week. A big difference maker. But one that is not only good, but scores touchdowns? That's where you get lucky. You might have 3 WR going in a week and 1 scores a TD. But with a D/ST you have 11 people in one slot who can get you a score.

Guess who has a good chance to score? The Vikings. All things being equal, I would take a slightly lesser defense with playmakers than a solid defense that lacks playmakers. Yet the Vikings are the most solid AND have playmakers.

If you get shut out, keep an eye on the Cardinals. They have playmakers, their defense is much-improved and their offense won't hurt them as badly this year.
