What is the overall best drill a football/soccer player can do to quickly improve their game? If you'd like to list more than one that would be great also.

  1. there isn't one specific drill that can fix your flaws but here are a couple that help:

    1.SHOOTING

    -volleys

    -bicycle kicks

    -far

    -inside box

    2. SMALL SIDED GAMES

small sided games are normally 4 vs 4 this can help improve short passes and gives you plenty of opportunities to make runs and practice dribbling.

  2. there are different scenarios that you can play out, depending on what specific skills you would like to work on.

  3. The best drills you can do are drills which emulate game scenarios. For example 3 v 3, 5 v 5 game situations. Drills where players will need to pass and score in small spaces/areas.

  4. kicking a ball against a wall really helps with your footwork, its easy and you dont really need anything. jump rope also helps with coordination and balance as well as stamina.

  5. work on your sprints, learn to run without looking at the ball (or looking at it the least you can).

If you have a partner you can ask him to try and steal the ball while you try keeping on to it (as a mid you should really be able to hang on to the ball once it's between your feet).

learn to handle the ball with the soul of your foot (harder at first, but once you get the hang of it it's almost impossible to make mistakes)

long shots: if you have an available goal post you should try shooting from a 20 meter distance (some goalies like to walk out, if you manage to catch a goalie out of his posts and you know how to kick from far away... it's certainly worth a try 8D)
