What's the best fabric to use for these two cosplays?

First one is Mugen from Samurai Champloo's jacket,

i would use a cotton...its going to be the easiest to sew on...

For the first one, broadcloth or homespun would work nicely. If you shop at J-Anns, it's usually on the back wall with the plain cottons.

For the second and third one, I would pick a material from the suiting aisle. Like a wool suiting or other material that has a bit of crispness to it.
